Hein-Jan ter Meulen

Hein-Jan advises and litigates in complex commercial disputes and a variety of corporate law issues, boasting a wealth of experience in those areas. For example, Hein-Jan has previously been involved in the settlement of class action lawsuits, commercial contract law, matters on directors and officers liability, and proceedings before the Enterprise Court. Also, Hein-Jan was a judge at the Midden-Nederland District Court for several years, including in the commercial law division. In that capacity he handled a wide array of cases, including on the interpretation and formation of commercial contracts, breach/dissolution of commercial contracts and related loss estimates, and directors and officers liability. At present, Hein-Jan still regularly acts as deputy judge.

  • Counsel for recycling company Blue Phoenix Group (Inashco) in various disputes concerning national and international sales agreements and related disputes with a former shareholder.
  • Counsel for a construction and development company in various commercial disputes before regular courts and in arbitration proceedings, including on the formation and execution of various sales agreements and partnership agreements.
  • Counsel for Petro Ventures Europe in a dispute over raising emergency funding before the Enterprise Court.

    Hein-Jan previously worked as a Judge at the Midden-Nederland District Court (October 2019 – September 2023) and as a lawyer at De Breij Evers Boon (2013-2019).
